Description
KY31 tall fescue is a deep-rooted bunch grass that
has stems 3 to 4 feet high. Leaves are broad, coarse, and flat.
Tall Fescue is used in mine reclamation, stabilizing
grassed waterways, slopes, road banks and lawns for recreation areas. It is the
most versatile and widely used grass for conservation in the Northeast. It is
established by drilling or broadcasting seed in spring or early fall. It
produces effective ground cover the first year.
Tall Fescue grows in low-fertility, acid, clayey,
loamy, and sandy soils. It has good drought tolerance, fair shade tolerance and
tolerates somewhat poorly drained soil. Turf types are more suitable for lawn
use, as the appearance of KY31 is a broader, thicker blade. Seeding Rate for
lawns – 7# per 1000 sq. ft.
