Description
Vaccine provides 9-way protection against canine distemper, canine adenovirus type 2 (CAV-2), canine parainfluenza and canine parvovirus type 2b as well as Leptospira canicola, grippotyphosa, icterohaemorrhagiae, and pomona. For puppies and dogs that are 6 weeks of age or older. Ideal when used as an economical annual booster. A modified live virus vaccine that contains attenuated strains for the viral fractions. Lepto fractions are killed antigens. CAV-2 fraction provides cross-protection against respiratory infection caused by infectious canine hepatitis (CAV-1). Meets or exceeds USDA standards. Package includes vaccine and single dose syringe.
Directions: Open syringe by twisting or tapping the cap against a hard surface to break the heat weld. Prepare the vaccine by injecting the diluent into the vial containing the dessicated vaccine cake. Shake well and withdraw entire contents into the syringe. Thoroughly prepare injection site with antiseptic. Lift the loose skin behind the neck or behind front leg and insert needle. Pull back slightly on plunger. If blood enters the syringe freely, choose another injection site. Once injection site is established, inject the full 1 ml dose subcutaneously (SQ-under the skin) or intramuscularly (IM). Repeat dosage every 2 to 3 weeks until dog is at least 16 weeks of age. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended. All dogs over 12 weeks of age should initially receive one dose followed by a second dose 2 to 3 weeks later.
*Most veterinarians DO NOT recommend that vaccines containing Lepto fractions be given to puppies that are less than 9-10 weeks of age or to toy dog breeds as severe reactions may result. For puppies, it is recommended to give a 5/6 way vaccine for the first two series of vaccinations and then follow up with two series of the 9/10 way vaccine. For toy breeds, it is recommended to stay with the 5/6 way vaccine that does not contain Lepto.
